Privacy Policy
SOCIAL is operated by GWN Ventures LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights regarding your data.
SOCIAL is a social networking app designed around personal connections. Our current data practices are described below.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
- Email address — required for account creation via email sign-up, or provided by Apple or Google during sign-in (Apple may provide a private relay email address instead of your real email)
- Display name and username — provided by you during onboarding
- Date of birth — used solely to verify you meet the minimum age requirement (13+); stored on your profile but not displayed to other users
- Profile photo — optional; stored in our file storage system
- Bio — optional
We do not receive or store your Apple or Google password when you sign in with those providers.
User-Generated Content
- Photos — uploaded as part of posts; compressed on your device before upload
- Videos — uploaded as part of posts; compressed on your device before upload
- Audio — captured as part of video recording only; SOCIAL does not record audio independently
- Text content — post captions, comments, direct messages, group messages, and introduction messages
- Group names and group images
Identifiers
- User ID — a unique identifier generated by our authentication system when you create your account
- Device install ID — a randomly generated identifier used to deliver over-the-air app updates to your device; this is not a persistent device identifier and does not track you across apps
- Push notification token — a device-specific token used to deliver push notifications to your device; generated by Apple's Push Notification service and does not contain personal information
Location Data
- Precise location (GPS coordinates) — collected only when you actively use the "Find Nearby" feature to discover friends in your physical vicinity. Your coordinates are transmitted to our server, stored briefly, and then automatically deleted. Your exact coordinates are not displayed to other users. Location is collected only while the app is in the foreground and only when you have granted the "When In Use" location permission.
Diagnostics
- Crash data — when the app crashes or encounters a serious error, we collect stack traces, device model, operating system version, and app version via our crash reporting service (Sentry). We scrub personally identifiable information — including email addresses, IP addresses, passwords, and authentication tokens — from crash reports before transmission.
- Error logs — non-crashing errors (failed network requests, rendering errors) are logged with your user ID, error type, source, and app/OS version. These logs never include message content, post content, or other user-generated text.
Future Features
If we introduce in-app purchases in the future, we may collect purchase history and transaction identifiers as necessary to provide and support those purchases. We will update this Privacy Policy before collecting any new categories of data.

3. How We Share Your Information
With your friends
Your profile information (display name, username, photo, bio) and posts are visible to other users based on your settings and the features available at the time.
With service providers
We use the following third-party services to operate SOCIAL. These providers process data on our behalf under their respective terms of service and privacy policies:
| Service | Data It Receives | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase (Supabase Inc.) | Account data, content, metadata | Backend infrastructure, authentication, database, file storage |
| Sentry (Functional Software Inc.) | Crash reports, error events, user ID, device info, app version | Crash reporting and error monitoring |
| Expo (650 Industries Inc.) | Device install ID, push notification token, OS version, app runtime version | Over-the-air app updates and push notification delivery |
| Apple (Apple Inc.) | Name and email (if you use Sign in with Apple) | Authentication |
| Google (Google LLC) | Name and email (if you use Sign in with Google) | Authentication |
What we do not do
- We do not currently sell your personal information.
- We do not currently share your personal information with advertisers, data brokers, or any party for their own marketing purposes.
- We do not currently share your personal data with third-party AI or machine learning systems.
- We do not currently use tracking technologies or participate in cross-app tracking.
4. Data Retention
| Data Type | Retention Period |
|---|---|
| Location coordinates | Briefly stored; automatically deleted |
| Nearby discovery requests | Ephemeral; deleted when expired |
| Account data (profile, posts, messages) | Retained until you delete the content or your account |
| Crash reports (Sentry) | 30 days |
| Error logs | Retained for debugging; user ID linkage is severed upon account deletion |
When you delete your account (Settings > Delete Account), we delete your account data from our active systems, including your profile, posts, messages, friend connections, group memberships, and introduction requests. This action cannot be undone. Some data may persist in automated backup systems for a limited period and in third-party services (such as crash reports already submitted to Sentry) until their normal retention periods expire. Error logs associated with your account are anonymized by removing your user identifier.
5. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on Supabase infrastructure (hosted on Amazon Web Services). Authentication tokens are stored on your device using the iOS Keychain (via secure storage) and are not transmitted except during authentication. All data in transit is encrypted via TLS. Data at rest is encrypted by our infrastructure providers.
We implement technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including database-level access controls that enforce visibility rules, server-side validation of all data-modifying operations, time-limited access to stored media, and rate limiting to prevent abuse.
No system is perfectly secure. While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Your Rights
All users
- Access your data within the app (your profile, posts, and messages are visible to you)
- Correct your data (edit your profile, edit or delete your posts)
